The red/yellow hydrocarbon wax is great for hot-wax cleaning, base conditioning, and warm weather skiing for the non-racer.
Base prep waxes are the best choice for cleaning and conditioning, but are not durable enough for use on the snow; you must wax over them with a hydrocarbon wax.
The blue/green hydrocarbon wax should be used for cold weather skiing. Use below 25 F / -4 C.
